Crazy Rich Surabaya, Boss Samator Arief Harsono Dies

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Businessman from Surabaya Arief Harsono, who was the owner of Samator Group, died on Friday, (02/07/2021) at Adi Husada Hospital, Surabaya due to Covid-19.

This information was obtained from Hermanto Tanoko’s Instagram account @htanoko which was quoted on Saturday, (03/07/2021).

Hermanto Tanoko is one of the crazy rich from Surabaya who has Tancorp business work. Tancorp Abadi Nusantara or known as Tancorp is a large company with more than 100 active brands in Indonesia managed by 36 business units.

In Hermanto’s post it was written, “Indonesia has lost one of the largest gas entrepreneurs in Indonesia. Ir. Arief Harsono, MM., M.Pd.B., the boss of the Samator Group who breathed his last at 21.30 WIB, Friday 2 July 2021, @ RS Adi Husada, Surabaya,” wrote Hermanto.

Arief founded Samator in 1975, now Samator Group with facilities of more than 50 Oxygen factories & 100 filling stations. Samator also provides a range of gas products and services to meet market demand with the largest and widest distribution network in the archipelago.

Samator Group has grown into a Multi Trillion Rupiah company with more than 3,000 employees.

In 2004, Samator aggressively expanded its industrial gas business by acquiring PT Aneka Gas Industri.

Hermanto Tanoko recalled that on July 25, he had asked Arief Harsono about the condition of Covid-19 and the adequacy of oxygen. Then Arief replied that it looks like it will continue to increase until mid-July.

“Indeed, all Oxygen Producers are overwhelmed with gas cylinders and transportation. So these past few weeks I have been busy coordinating the lack of Oxygen in West Java, Central Java & East Java Hospitals, so I kind of forget to take a break,” he recalled what Arief said.

He further said, we have all lost a Hero who has struggled to meet the needs of Oxygen in Indonesia.

“Thank you and goodbye friend, partner, a great role model Mr. Arief Harsono, he has helped thousands of people in the vaccination program and is busy every day coordinating the allocation of oxygen by traveling to all hospitals in Indonesia.”
