Singer, actress, entrepreneur — and now a billionaire: Selena Gomez is on the Bloomberg Billionaires Index for the first time.
Selena Gomez: Most of her wealth is based on this income
According to the report, a large part (more than 80 percent) of her wealth comes from income from her beauty brand “Rare Beauty,” which she launched in September 2020 and which quickly became a fan favorite among cosmetic brands. In addition, there are partnerships with other brands and “Wondermind,” her start-up focused on mental health. Gomez has also invested in a swimwear brand and a food delivery service, among others.
According to Bloomberg, a single Instagram ad by the 32-year-old alone can bring in up to $30 million – with 424 million followers, Gomez is the most followed woman on the platform and the person with the third most followers after footballers Cristiano Ronaldo, 39, and Lionel Messi, 37.
Successful career as a singer and actress
Selena Gomez began her acting career in 2002 with a role in the children’s television series “Barney and Friends”. Her breakthrough came with the Disney Channel series “Wizards of Waverly Place”, in which she played the lead role of Alex Russo. This was followed by guest roles in other popular Disney series as well as in films such as “Another Cinderella Story” (2008), “The Princess Protection Program” (2009) and “The Dead Don’t Die” (2019). Since 2021 she has played one of the main roles in the Hulu series “Only Murders in the Building”. In 2008 she also started out as a singer with her first record deal; Gomez has released six studio albums to date.
