VIVA – Lieutenant Colonel (Lieutenant Colonel) Denis Vasilchenko’s actions in the war against Ukrainian troops, was rewarded with the Gold Star Hero of Russia medal. Vasilchenko’s services will always be remembered, for his courage to carry out the deadly attack alone.
The medal ceremony of honor was held in Moscow, Monday 20 February 2023. The highest Russian military award was given directly by the Commander of the Russian Navy’s Northern Fleet, Admiral Aleksandr Moiseyev.
Moiseyev presented the medal of honor to Vasilchenko’s wife, Irina Yuryevna. On that occasion, Moiseyev recounted Vasilchenko’s heroic actions, when he killed 18 soldiers and destroyed two units of Ukrainian military tanks.
Seriously injured after coming into contact with Ukrainian troops, Vasilchenko fired the anti-tank mortar with his last strength.

Very dramatically, after two tanks of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (ZSU), Vasilchenko was killed. The incident occurred last Wednesday 19 October 2022.
“On October 19 (2022), the senior officer, Denis Vasilchenko, repelled the counterattack of the nationalists,” Moiseyev said. VIVA Military from Russian News Agency, RIA Novosti.
