Future transportation prototypes, Hyperloop, routinely tested. After the world’s first passenger tried it aboard a capsule made by Virgin Hyperloop, a prototype of the future ‘train’ was tested in South Korea and scored a speed of 1,000 kilometers per hour.
The Korean Railroad Research Institute (Korail) as the testing company, said that the capsule was running in a vacuum and reached a speed of 1,019 kilometers per hour.
Quoted detikINET from the Independent, this trial was carried out with an actual scale Hyperloop capsule and this is the first time it has been held in the world. The previous highest top speed was also reached by Korail with 714 kilometers per hour.
South Korea itself has set a target to operate the Hyperloop network by 2024. Because it is so fast, faster than airplanes, travel time between cities can be greatly shortened.
The concept of hyperloop was first put forward by Elon Musk in 2012, but he didn’t make it because he admitted that he was too busy. So various other companies competed to create it, namely Hyperloop TT and Virgin Hyperloop.
Virgin Hyperloop itself has just tested its product with passengers on board. The trial that was held in Las Vegas reached a speed of 172 kilometers per hour.
Various countries are already interested in implementing hyperloop in the future. Apart from South Korea and the US, there are India, France, Saudi Arabia to England.
The hyperloop infrastructure is a special line with the shape of a giant pipe, and a capsule inside to carry passengers or cargo. Well, the giant pipe is made close to the vacuum which is the key why the hyperloop capsule can go so fast.
The reason is, the thin density of air in the pipe will greatly minimize the friction between the capsule and the air in the pipe. So in theory, the hyperloop is claimed to penetrate the equivalent speed of up to 1207 km per hour, much faster than an airplane.
The capsules in the pipe are designed to float, either by the air cushion method or by magnetic technology. Hyperloop is basically similar to the maglev type train, it’s just that because it is not blocked by air pressure, the speed is much higher.
