Jakarta, CNN Indonesia —
A number of countries in Europe had experienced a wave of demonstrations against the closure of the region (lockdown) carried out by several countries to overcome the Covid-19 pandemic.
This wave of demonstrations was held amid a surge in Covid-19 cases. World Health Organization (WHO) had stated that the European continent was one of the epicenters of the spread of the corona virus.
“Europe is again at the center of the pandemic as it was a year ago,” said WHO representative in Europe, Hans Kluge on Thursday (4/11).
The WHO has even warned that the number of deaths from Covid-19 in Europe could reach half a million by February 2022 if the trend of infections continues the same.
However, there are still many citizens in Europe who protest the policy lockdown in their country.

In the Netherlands, for example, riots occurred during a protest by Dutch citizens when the government’s policy forbidding unvaccinated people from entering public spaces. The Dutch government also enforces lockdown partially to suppress the surge in Covid-19 cases.
Clashes between the masses and the police were unavoidable. Officers attacked a group of demonstrators in The Hague and sprayed water cannon to extinguish a pile of burned bicycles.
This riot occurred on Saturday (20/11) night. According to The Hague police, five of its members were reportedly injured. One person was taken to hospital with a concussion, while two others suffered hearing loss due to the fireworks explosion.
Stones hurled by demonstrators were said to have shattered the windows of an ambulance that was passing and carrying a patient.
