Crashes and Challenges at the Mandalika International Circuit – Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia

Many riders crashed at Turn 11 of the Mandalika International Circuit. But, the most difficult track Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia it’s not called that.

Several racers crashed while in action at the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia. In free practice 1, Friday (13/10/2023), VR46 Racing Team rider, Marco Bezzecchi, fell at that corner.

Apart from that, Brad Binder, Augusto Fernandez and Jack Miller also crashed at the same corner during practice. Former MotoGP racer, Fonsi Nieto, revealed an analysis of the layout of the Mandalika Circuit. There was one point that he considered challenging.

Mandalika Circuit has a layout of 17 turns with details of 10 turns to the right and seven turns to the left. The circuit of the Populous show has a length of 4,313 kilometers.

Turns 15 and 16 were rated by Fonsi Nieto as the most dangerous at Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia. Turn 15 can be taken at high speed, while turn 16 is a sharp bend.

“Actually turns 15 and 16 because it depends on where you put the tires in turn 15, so you can pass turn 16,” said Nieto at As.

“If you go too fast at turn 15, you might go wide at turn 16, so you will cross the curb and have to lift the motorbike because the track is very dirty, outside.”

“It’s quite critical and I think there will be a lot of deciding things this weekend,” he added.

Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia held, Sunday (15/10). The race will start at 14.00 WIB.
