Crash Team Rumble promises uncompromised multiplayer fun

Developed by Toys for Bob and published by Activision, Crash Team Rumble tries to bring gaming’s most famous marsupial to the world of online games. However, the game fails to bring diversity in the gameplay and ends up becoming repetitive too soon.

Crash Team Rumble doesn’t have a game-moving story. He goes directly to the action in a tutorial that explains very well the simple mechanics of the game. The player plays online matches of up to four people where the objective is to collect more Wumpas, Crash’s berries, than the opposing team.

Simple and repetitive gameplay

Although the objective of the game, in practice, is to collect more fruit than the enemies, Crash Team Rumble brings some mechanisms to try to give more complex tones to the gameplay. The first point is that Wumpas must be delivered to a specific point on the map. In this sense, one of the characteristics of the game comes in: classes.

Crash Team Rumble has three different types of heroes, which are Scorers, Supporters and Blockers. With self-explanatory names, some characters have the function of hunting Wumpas, others try to block the shipment of fruits, while Support characters try to activate optimizers, which increase the count of Wumpas collected.

And I must confess that all this logic even entertains in the first five games. However, you soon realize that there is not much dynamism in the formula and that the games do not change much, even if, in theory, each map offers different optimizers and powers. Crash Team Rumble gets repetitive very quickly

shortage of matches

Crash Team Rumble was released just under a month ago on June 20th. However, players no longer find matches so easily. In some cases, it is possible to stay about ten minutes to be able to play. And it is worth mentioning that the game only needs eight players to start.

One of the consequences of this is a more limited matchmaking system. This is because the matches end up being assembled with the players that are available and, often, balance is not prioritized. In this way, the teams end up being unbalanced in several matches.

Crash Team Rumble has room to grow if more game modes are worked on and, who knows, with the creation of a more interesting season pass for players. However, at the moment, the game cannot sustain users for more than a few hours of gameplay.
