CRANS MONTANA – Crans Montana may miss out on hosting the World Downhill Skiing Championships in 2027.
The International Ski Federation said in a statement on its website that the Swiss resort only pretended to have financial guarantees from the federation and local government during its 2022 bid. The Swiss objected to this and say that it is not true.
Crans Montana already hosted the world championship in 1987. For 2027, it was given priority over Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Narvik in Norway and Soldeu in Andorra.
Two downhills and one super giant slalom race took place in the Swiss resort last weekend. Lara Gutová-Behramiová is at the head of the interim evaluation of the SP.
