Crans-Montana has just shared its experience in terms of sustainable socio-economic development. All this during a forum organized last week in New York by the OECD, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.

Climate change, territorial development, green innovation or even collaboration with higher education establishments. These are some of the challenges the world faces every day.

Building bridges between governments

And that’s what the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) was interested in, when setting up a forum in New York between July 17 and 21. The goal of the approach: to help governments around the world in the implementation of public policies that should improve economic and social well-being.

The challenges are numerous and affect all areas. Whether it concerns social inequalities, green innovation or issues related to digitalisation, the OECD wants to facilitate the sharing of experiences between countries and agents of change.

In the front of the scene

And Crans-Montana took part in the forum. The municipality is even a pioneer in this area, according to a press release published Monday by the Association of municipalities of Crans-Montana (ACCM).

The ACCM’s economic promotion delegate, Rafal Hys, went to the Big Apple to share his knowledge on the subject. Its role in New York has been to promote a proven socio-economic model. A system that should motivate flourishing businesses to establish themselves in the territory of the Haut-Plateau. The quintuple helix model, i.e. the interactions between government, business, academia, the impact on the community and the environment.
