Craig Wright Judge Ruling: Not Satoshi Nakamoto or Bitcoin Creator

Craig Wright is the man who claimed for years to be none other than Satoshi Nakamoto, the creator of Bitcoin (BTC).

However, the Australian never proved this and sued anyone who questioned his claims. At one point, a group of Bitcoin developers had enough and sued him.

The trial is now coming to an end and the judge was able to reach a quick conclusion because “the evidence was overwhelming”.

Judge immediately issues ruling against Craig Wright

Craig Wright is not Satoshi Nakamoto and he did not write the Bitcoin whitepaper, the judge concludes.

Wright was sued by the Crypto Open Patent Alliance (COPA), a group made up of Bitcoin developers and Twitter founder Jack Dorsey.

COPA members believed Wright should be stopped because his lawsuits were causing problems for developers.

“Based on his dishonest claim to be Satoshi Nakamoto, he has filed lawsuits claiming he is entitled to hundreds of billions of dollars, including against many private individuals,” said the COPA lawyer.

They had had enough and said Wright was waging “a massive campaign of dishonesty and falsification” against the industry. Wright was also accused of falsifying documents in the case. Wright was convicted of this in a previous trial.

Wright is not Satoshi Nakomoto and not the creator of Bitcoin

The judge has yet to issue a written verdict, but he was able to reach a conclusion quickly because the evidence was so overwhelming against Wright.

“I will make certain statements that I am convinced are useful and necessary to do justice between the parties.

First, that Dr. Wright is not the author of the Bitcoin whitepaper. Secondly, Dr. Wright is not the person who adopted or used the pseudonym Satoshi Nakamoto from 2008 to 2011.

Third, Dr. Wright is not the person who created the Bitcoin system. And fourth, he is not the author of the first versions of the Bitcoin software. Any further action will be addressed in my written judgment,” Judge James Mellor said.

COPA now demands that Wright may never again claim in any form that he is Satoshi, but such a statement would be unprecedented. It would mean that he can never say he is Satoshi again without being fined and possibly even going to jail.

We now have to wait and see what the judge says in the written judgment in which he will discuss all evidence and charges in detail. It is still unclear when this will be. An appeal is also still possible for Wright.

While the outcome won’t come as a surprise to many, Wright’s fans will undoubtedly be disappointed. They continued to believe him for years. Bitcoin sv (BSV), a so-called hard fork of bitcoin, is seen by Wright’s supporters as the real bitcoin.

After the outcome in the lawsuit, BSV’s share price took a rapid dive. The price fell by about 23% this week.
