Craig Dawson: Wolverhampton complete West Ham defender deal

Wolverhampton have completed the signing of central defender Craig Dawson from West Ham.

Dawson, 32, moved to Molineux on a two-and-a-half-year deal, sealing his return to the Midlands after spending much of his playing career at West Brom before moving to London in 2019.

Dawson joins Wolves for £3.3m after weeks of speculation, in which West Ham chairman David Moyes criticized Jolene Lopetegui for allegedly taking an interest in the public defender earlier this month.

Once signed, Britain international Dawson could not be found in time to appear for Sunday’s trip to Manchester City but has agreed a deal until the end of the 2024/25 season.

He initially made a name for himself at West Bromwich Albion, appearing more than 200 times before moving on to West Ham, where he played a key role in their run to the Europa League semi-finals last season.

Dawson helped knock out Sevilla, then led by Lopetegui, but now he will have the opportunity to work with the Spanish coach.
