Crafts in the online store: Open-air museum fair starts working online – Inspirational ideas – House

“It is important for us to support the locals, especially in such unprecedented circumstances, so we are pleased with the open-air museum’s response to our idea of an online fair. We are ready to provide support to local craftsmen and home producers, because for many, participating in the e-fair means learning new skills – how to design and present your product virtually, how to pay securely and solve delivery issues. The large number of participants confirms at the beginning of the project that Luminor’s encouragement to local retailers to switch to the digital environment has been appreciated, ”says Kerli Gabrilovica, Luminor’s head in Latvia.

Gunta Velpa has been weaving for 20 years, trying to popularize one of the oldest types of handicrafts in Latvia. “I have set up my own company” Atspole “, and so far the buyers have been mainly foreign tourists, who have taken my works home as souvenirs from Latvia. I am glad that egadatirgus.lv has been created, which will serve as an additional way to gain more customers in Latvia and also abroad. ” At present, more than 130 craftsmen and home producers from all over Latvia have registered at egadatirgus.lv.

The products are placed in several categories – ceramics; wood and wood, textile; toys; metal; jewelry; leather; glass and food and beverages, the most representative of which are currently textiles, jewelery and wooden products.

Most traders have applied from Riga and its surroundings (50%), Vidzeme (17%), Zemgale (12%), Latgale (11%) and Kurzeme (10%).

“To reiterate that this year’s big crafts festival cannot take place as usual, we wanted to mark this year as important in the history of Latvian crafts, because caring for our own people and the need to highlight and cherish local products has only grown.

Proven craftsmen and home producers will also take part in this “online” fair.

We are very happy about the great response of craftsmen and home producers and the interest in meeting buyers virtually. Thanks to them, Latvian crafts and home-made traditions are kept alive, because only in this way can we preserve this important cultural heritage. Unlike many nations, we can be proud that we have really managed to save what many have already lost, says Kristīne Kūla, Deputy Director of the Open-Air Museum.

In particular, compatriots abroad have already shown interest in egadatirgus.lv, so DPD Latvija has become a big friend of the project, which will help the purchased products to reach buyers quickly and safely both in Latvia and elsewhere in Europe.

“We stand for the values of Latvia, therefore we feel honored to be a part of this grand project! How significant that the 50th fair season begins in a new form – online, so we have opened a new page in our heritage book. In order to support local craftsmen and strengthen ties between compatriots in Latvia and abroad, we have prepared a special cooperation offer for egadatirgus.lv craftsmen and invite all buyers to use the opportunity to receive purchased goods and gifts through DPD, “says Jānis Grants, Chairman of the Board of DPD Latvija.

In order to promote the recognition of craftsmen and home producers of the virtual fair, a traveling green ball will take place today within the framework of the Riga Festival, which will invite residents to support the locals by visiting and shopping at the Fair. online store. The trading portal works as an e-catalog, where buyers from Latvia and other countries can easily view the offer and contact the masters to buy the selected goods.
