Crafts and children’s gaze for San José Obrero

The neighborhood of San José Obrero is celebrating. You can see it in the pennants in the streets, in the spirit of the people, in those attractions that are closed first thing in the morning and then come to life and, this Saturday, also in the 1st Festival of San José Obrero Crafts Show, which was spread over the Rafaela de Antonio street, in the heart of the neighborhood.

The fair was a market with various stalls in which the Ávila Avilarte Cultural Association of Alternative Artists collaborated and which, thanks to the good weather, could be held outside. From the moment of its opening, it was possible to see the eager participants setting the prices and serving the first customers who would later increase during the day. In this market there was also the presence of associations with stalls of the Spanish Association against Cancer or Fundaben, with their offers. But the craftsmanship was noticeable to all those present with handmade items in fabric or wool, decoration proposals or jewelry. And for those interested in the past and how it can be brought to the present, there was also an exhibition of traditional musical instruments.

The market that took place throughout the day is just one of the proposals that these days and until May 7 come with some parties that also propose a tapas route through the neighborhood bars or invite you to participate in the photography contest.

On Saturday, a Zumba masterclass and a children’s show for the whole family with magic and humor were also scheduled to be held.

In the religious part, the triduum in honor of San José Obrero, and to finish, a musical performance with the entrance to one euro to allocate it to charitable causes.

All these acts have to serve as a prelude to what will be experienced this Sunday, when the main festival is celebrated. After the chupinazo and breakfast, the Eucharist and the procession will be celebrated with the image of San José Obrero, which will include a release of balloons and a gesture for peace at the corner of Nuestra Señora de Sonsoles and Rafaela de Antonio streets. At the end of the procession there will be an auction of banzos and an invitation to sweets and lemonade.

The afternoon program will include the opening of the church and a Eucharist, while the day will close with a flamenco performance by the group of Inma González, from the Toledana Neighborhood Association, in the parish assembly hall. Again the entry will have the prize of one euro to be used for charitable causes.
