Crackonosh: Avast discovered the Czech virus. Krakonoš mined the crypto thanks to cracked games

Avast analysts have described malware called Crackonosh. It is a pun combining the Czech word Krakonoš and the word crack. Malware appears in cracked video games, and according to Avast, its authors may come from the Czech Republic.

“Crackonosh is malicious software designed to extract cryptocurrencies that has been in circulation since at least June 2018. The creators have infected more than 222,000 systems worldwide and raised more than $ 2 million in the cryptocurrency Monero,” concludes Avast.

Crackonosh has hit users hardest in the United States, Brazil, India, the Philippines and Poland. The Czechia is the tenth most affected country – it has reached over five thousand users. We also recorded infections in Slovakia. “
