This is evident from a tour of the ANP news agency along wholesalers and sellers. The sale of miracle tops, stars and whistles at the Huisman Fireworks webshop is going ‘like crazy’ and wholesaler Broekhoff Vwoningen International also sees a ‘significant increase’ in sales of light fireworks.

In fact, things are going so fast that stocks are in danger of running out, says Marcel Schutteman of Broekhoff from Dronten, who provides fireworks to some 350 retailers in the Netherlands.
“Crackling balls, crackling ribbons, fountains: normally we sell it there, in addition to the regular fireworks”, says Schutteman. This year it is therefore the most important part of the range. Reordering is not done on time, because shipping from China alone takes forty days.

‘Not just for the kids’
According to John Elderhorst of Fireworld in The Hague, there is also a storm in his online store. “I’ve never had category 1 decorative kits in the store, now they are pulling it out of your hands. They want to do something, for the children, but you will see that grown guys will also put it off soon.”
According to Erwin de Roo of Huisman Fireworks from Huissen, the number of orders he now receives online is just as large as in other years for the normal fireworks.
Less than 10 percent of the income
He does, however, make a comment. “The total income is less than 10 percent of what it normally is. Normally we sell combination boxes where you enjoy a fireworks show of a few minutes worth 400 to 500 euros. The most expensive I can sell now is a category 1 package for 25.95 euros. “

That is also reason for some web shops to remain closed for the time being. “We cannot sell 95 percent of our assortment at the moment,” says Rob Tempert of FireworksXXL. “We have to see if it makes sense to open the store with only the light fireworks.”
