CR7’s leg hit by the opponent’s face but not red carded, netizens are astonished

Jakarta

Cristiano Ronaldo again in the spotlight. Not only because of his slick action but also due to the incident that hit his opponent’s face, but was not red carded. Netizen react.

Ronaldo appeared well in his latest appearance for Juventus in the Italian Serie A League, against Cagliari. CR7 became the star of the La Vecchia Signora victory.

In the match at Cagliari’s home, Sardegna Arena, Monday (15/3/2021) early morning WIB, Cristiano Ronaldo appeared crazy in 32 minutes by breaking into the opponent’s goal three times.

The hat-trick was inscribed by the Portuguese player through his goals in the 10th, 25th and 32nd minutes. Cagliari were only able to reply once through Giovani Simeone’s goal in the 61st minute. Juve won 3-1.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s action is even more interesting because his three goals were scored in different ways. The first goal with a header, the second with a right footed shot via the white point, and the third goal from a left footed shot.

Through that hat-trick, Cristiano Ronaldo now has collected 770 goals at the national team and club level. Although that figure is far above the score of Brazilian legend Pele, who officially recorded 757 goals, CR7 is only now willing to claim that it has already broken a record. This is because Ronaldo thinks Pele has actually collected 767 goals throughout his career.

“And for that reason, I am filled with joy and pride because I recognize myself at the top of the world goalscorer list, past Pele’s record, something I never dreamed of growing up as a son of Madeira,” CR7 wrote in an excerpt of his post on social media.

However, Cristiano Ronaldo’s shining light through that achievement was also a negative spotlight for an incident in the match against Cagliari, when his leg slammed into the face of goalkeeper Alessio Cragno. Ronaldo gets a yellow card, but there is netizen on social media who think it’s not enough.

A number of accounts on Twitter have questioned why Ronaldo didn’t get a red card. His action of lifting his legs too high is a very dangerous potential for the opponent. Moreover, Cragno’s face was seen bleeding from the impact. There are also those who insinuate that Ronaldo is given special treatment from Serie A.

This incident was also discussed by Luca Marelli, a former Serie A referee. In line with a number of opinions netizen, he called Cristiano Ronaldo deserves a red card.

“Ronaldo deserved a red card. Although it was not intentional, it was a serious offense that deserved a red card. Too bad VAR did not intervene,” said Marelli as quoted by Football Italia.
