CPM Palestine Solidarity Seminar: Congress’s Bad Reactions and Muslim League’s Withdrawal Explained

Kochi: Minister P Rajeev alleged that the Congress made bad reactions to dissuade the Muslim League from participating in the CPM Palestine Solidarity Seminar. There were negative reactions from the Congress leaders on the issue. P. Rajeev said that the League leadership should clarify whether it was because of pressure from the Congress that it withdrew from the seminar. He said that the feeling of the League to stand together on common issues is welcome. CPM leader P Mohanan also responded that there is no logic in the League rejecting the invitation.

P Rajeev’s response in this regard comes after the Muslim League stated that it will not participate in the CPM’s Palestine Solidarity Seminar. Earlier, the statement made by the National Secretary of the Muslim League, IT Muhammad Basheer, had given rise to a big discussion. ET Mohammad Basheer MP said that the League will cooperate with CPM’s Palestine solidarity rally and will definitely participate if invited to the rally. It’s time for everyone to stand together. He had also said that the situation of not participating in the single civil code seminar is different. CPM officially invited the League to the seminar after the statement. This statement by Edi Muhammad Bashir has activated the discussion that the Muslim League is closer to the Left Front. It was after this that the Muslim League decided to hold a meeting to decide on the CPM’s participation in the Palestine Solidarity Seminar. The meeting was scheduled for 2 pm at Kozhikode League House. However, the league leadership decided not to have a special meeting to take a decision in this regard and announced that it would not participate in the event.

Muslim League leader PK Kunhalikutty responded that the League has a correct position on the Palestine issue and everyone should support the Palestinian people beyond all political controversies and as a UDF party, the League cannot participate in the CPM seminar. An all-party meeting should be called in Kerala on the issue of Palestine. CPM is grateful for the invitation. The league will not participate in the event. League Secretary has replied to K Sudhakaran. Kunhalikutty said that religious organizations are happy to participate in the CPM rally.
