The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), an international organization that works to protect the rights of journalists around the world, has expressed concern about the cancellation of press credit cards 20 journalists with the Ministry of Information of the Interim Government of Bangladesh. They claim that four of those 20 people were arrested because of their association with the former Awami League government. CPJ said these things from their verified Facebook page.
According to the group, the current government of Bangladesh has created an alarming censorship precedent in this decision.
CPJ also added an earlier report to that post. The report was written about the cases and arrests of pro-Awami journalists.
The group also said that the authorities should take appropriate measures to ensure the freedom of the media in the midst of political change in Bangladesh.
On October 29, the interim government issued an order to temporarily and permanently suspend the press accreditation cards of 20 senior journalists, including Iqbal Sobhan Chaudhuri, Farzana Roopa and Farida Yasmin. In this regard, the head of the information department of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting said. A magazine was published by the name of Nizamul Kabir.
