According to the latest information, Ubisoft is working on a new project inspired by the popular Animal Crossing. We have learned some information about the upcoming game, but the lack of official confirmation from the developers may mean the release date is quite distant.

Alterra

Details about the new Ubisoft production

The French company’s project, codenamed Alterra, has already been in development for about 18 months. Sources say that it is to be a simulator with gameplay based on patterns known from the Nintendo game series titled Animal Crossing. The decision to start work was made after abandoning another production with a similar structure, which began to be created about 4 years ago.

In the upcoming Ubisoft game, we are supposed to live on an island with many NPCs called Matterlings. We will be able to travel around the world and visit other biomes, which will offer different types of enemies and NPCs. One of the key mechanics will be the ability to build using collected materials – it should look similar to Minecraft. The title is also supposed to introduce a multiplayer mode, but we haven’t learned much about it.

As we have already mentioned, the new Alterra project has not been officially announced by Ubisoft yet. We will probably wait a few years for the production’s premiere. Some time ago, Nintendo, responsible for Animal Crossing, announced the creation of a new version of the title.
