FRISCO, Texas – Full analysis of the Cowboys’ third-round draft pick (No. 75 overall pick) on Friday night:
–
Name: Osa Odighizuwa
Position: Tackle defensivo
College: UCLA
Height Weight: 6-1 / 280
–
Analysis: The Cowboys have now used their top three picks to improve defense. Odighizuwa was a three-year starter for the Bruins, posting a career-high four tackles last season on his way to All-Pac-12 first-team honors. Osa Odighizuwa, a disruptive inside player, racked up 27.5 tackles for loss in 43 college games. Having a productive week in the Senior Bowl probably helped with his draft ranking.
–
How it fits: The Cowboys have selected a defensive tackle on Day 2 in three consecutive drafts: Trysten Hill in the second round of 2019, Neville Gallimore in the third round last year and now Osa Odighizuwa. Hill is working his way back from ACL surgery and Gallimore showed promise as a starter. The Cowboys also re-signed Antwaun Woods and added veteran tackles Brent Urban and Carlos Watkins in free agency. But for a defense that ranked No. 31 in rushing defense last season, the Cowboys are still looking for players who can make a difference on the inside. Odighizuwa will have the opportunity to compete for plays, and he showed versatility by playing multiple positions for the Bruins.
