The list of tight ends victims of the franchise tag continues to grow. After David Njoku in Cleveland and Mike Gesicki in Miami, it’s Dalton Schultz’s turn to be entitled to this designation on the Dallas side. NFL Media is reporting the information.
While not the best-known member of the Cowboys’ roster, Schultz was particularly productive last season, with 78 receptions for 808 yards and 8 touchdowns.
The franchise tag guarantees him a salary of $10.9 million for the upcoming season. Of course, Schultz and the Cowboys have until July 15 to negotiate a long-term contract.
Selected in the fourth round in 2018, the former Stanford had two very discreet first seasons, before completely flourishing over the last two campaigns.
