In his televised address, Tuesday, November 9, the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron mentioned the arrival “by the end of the year” of “really effective” treatments against the Covid. What are they ? We take stock!
“It is because France very early on focused on research into treatments and that we were able to order them very early on that we will benefit froma new weapon to fight the virus with the arrival at the end of the year of the first truly effective treatments against severe forms of Covid-19“. A declaration made by the President of the Republic Emmanuel Macron, during its televised address Tuesday, November 9, 2021, and which suggests that treatments are about to arrive in France, relieving some of the people who cannot be vaccinated and allowing the medical profession to change their strategy, if necessary, in the fight against coronavirus.
But these treatments, what are they? Although nothing has been specified by the Head of State, the latest scientific publications and orders placed leave little doubt as to the treatments mentioned. And the very first, the molnupiravir, authorized in the United States and under study by the European regulator:
Covid treatment: 50,000 doses of molnupiravir pills ordered by France
The Minister of Health Olivier Véran announced, Tuesday, October 26, that France had ordered 50,000 doses of molnupiravir, this preventive anti-Covid treatment developed by the American laboratory Merck and reducing by two the risk of hospitalization in the event of severe forms , if it is taken well upstream. Another treatment that could arrive by the end of the year in France, the Paxlovid, developed by the laboratory Pfizer. A preventive treatment in the form of pills which, like molnupiravir, must drastically reduce the replication of the virus and slow down its proliferation.
Covid: Pfizer’s anti-Covid pill 89% effective against hospitalizations and deaths
The Pfizer laboratory announced in September that it had started phases 2 and 3 of its clinical trial around an anti-Covid drug in pill form and potentially marketed by the end of the year if the results are conclusive.
