Very strong ovarian pain, early period even while taking the contraceptive pill … There are multiple side effects that Spanish women are experiencing regarding their menstruation after having received the vaccine antiCOVID-19. Given the situation, the University of Granada has decided to take action on the matter.
The educational institution has launched a study to see what are the causes and effects of these side effects on menstruation. For this reason, María Llapart has interviewed Laura Chamber, midwife, expert in female sexual health at the Virgen de las Nieves Hospital and participant in this research.
“Right now the most commonly reported symptoms are the most abundant bleeding, both in quantity and in days; delay, breakthrough bleeding disorders. All are light and temporary: in days or weeks they usually normalize. They are not serious and do not justify non-vaccination, “the health service has argued.
Peace of mind, since they are “mild”
The message is clear: you have to be calm, since vaccines are safe. Given the symptoms, the imperative is to study it, as Chamber has confirmed, but “in no case are they serious symptoms.”
As a result of collecting testimonies during these months, an investigation has been launched to identify if there is any relationship between the vaccine and the disorders. The truth is that these possible imbalances in the menstrual cycle had not been reported until now: it was not observed during previous clinical trials or taken into account.
Happens all over the world
“The menstrual cycle of the women who were being vaccinated in these clinical trials should have been taken into account and see if that had a posteriori repercussion, “explained Cámara.
It is not something that only happens in Spain. As Graziella Almendral has pointed out, it is happening “in half the world”. This same Friday, the main newspaper of India has dedicated an extensive report on the matter.
