An ICMR study came out in November 2023 dispelling concerns about the risk of sudden death among young people due to Covid vaccines. The study suggests that factors such as post-Covid hospitalization, family history of sudden death, and certain lifestyle behaviors may be underlying causes.

The study also acknowledged that Covid-19 increases the risk of heart disease and stroke, but did not prove that the virus causes sudden death. The study was conducted in 47 tertiary care hospitals across the country.

The study focused on healthy individuals aged 18-45 years without underlying medical conditions who died unexpectedly between October 2021 and March 2023.

The study, which states that vaccines are not responsible for heart attacks, also states that lifestyle factors such as smoking, excessive alcohol consumption and drug use increase the risk of these diseases.
