The United States approved the Pfizer Covid vaccine for children ages 5 to 11 on Friday after a panel of experts found that the benefits outweighed the risks.
“As a mother and doctor, I know that parents, carers, school staff and children are waiting for today’s permission,” said Janet Woodcock, acting head of the Food and Drug Administration.
“Vaccinating young children against COVID-19 will bring us closer to returning to normal,” she added.
