Covid vaccination in Mexico has practically reached the end point

The undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo Lopez-Gatell, explained that the vaccination coverage against covid-19 has advanced widelyto the point that the end of this process has practically been reached.

“In vaccination we continue, very little demand for the primary scheme, we have reached the end point, the entire population is covered, those who remain continue to invite them to get it,” he said.

In the morning conference at the National Palace, the official acknowledged that it is possible that some of the people who have not yet vaccinated have decided not to do so or did so in another context, outside of Mexico.

He added that to date 186 million doses have been applied in 84 million people, which translates into an overall coverage of 90 percent. However, he acknowledged that work is still being done so that biologicals reach the most remote rural areas in the country; “Getting everyone vaccinated is a matter of will,” he said.

Regarding coverage, he explained that there is 90 percent in adults and 54 percent in people between 14 and 17 years of age. While in the reinforcements there has been significant progress: 71 percent for 60 years and over, 48 percent in the group from 40 to 59, and in the group from 30 to 39 there is 62 percent.

Likewise, 224.3 million doses have been received, and he trusted that “we have enough vaccines to cover needs, we are in a good period of low epidemic and high coverage,” he said.
