Covid vaccination: booster dose produces mild side effects | International

The people who received booster vaccines against covid-19 after these were authorized (for those with weakened immune systems) they had mostly mild to moderate reactions, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), from the United States.

About 22,191 booster dose recipients were enrolled in a federal monitoring system between Aug. 12, when the country’s regulators authorized their emergency use, and Sept. 19, the CDC said in a report.

Booster recipients reported data between 0 and 7 days after receiving the third dose.

Most of the reported reactions were mild: 71% said they felt pain at the puncture site, andl 56% reported fatigue and 43% headache.

About 1.8% said they sought medical attention, while 13 recipients indicated that they had been hospitalized,Although the specific reasons for which they received care were not reported in the report.

“The frequency and type of side effects were similar to those seen after the second dose of the vaccines, and were mostly mild or moderate, and of short duration,” said CDC Director Rochelle Walensky in a briefing of the White House task force on coronavirus.

Almost all recipients said they received an additional dose of the vaccine that was initially administered. 98.6% identified themselves as a Moderna recipient and 98.2% said they had received the Pfizer / BioNTech vaccine first.

The patterns of adverse reactions after the third dose of the Moderna and Pfizer / BioNTech cThey occurred with the reactions described above after receiving the second dose.

However, there is not enough data to determine whether there were patterns for people who received a booster from another manufacturer.

The findings are limited to people who submitted self-reports.

Overall about 2, 21 million people in the US had received additional doses of vaccinations through Sept. 19, according to the CDC.
