Covid: two new Guyanese patients transferred to the CHU

Sunday June 28, 2020 – 12:24 p.m.

In Guyana, the situation continues to worsen and serious cases are emerging. The peak of the epidemic is not expected there for three good weeks and resuscitation capacities are about to be saturated.

Guadeloupe, in solidarity, will therefore welcome again, this Sunday, two Guyanese patients. With the two already arrived on Tuesday 24, these transfers will bring the number of Guyanese patients hospitalized in the Covid service of our CHU to four. We remind you that Martinique also welcomed four patients transferred from Guyana. These transfers are carried out in strict compliance with security measures, both during air transport and when taking charge in Guadeloupe.

It is probably not finished, given the progression of the epidemic, especially in Cayenne. But the health authorities are clear: “The situation will be regularly reassessed to reconcile the reception of patients from Guyana and the maintenance of our health response in Guadeloupe”.
