Pisa, 4 October 2020 – Several new cases of Covid-19 positivity ascertained in Tuscan schools with the consequent quarantines imposed for different classes. ASL Toscana Nord Ovest is among the three most affected in Tuscany. Here is the detailed situation. to
Massa Carrara
Following the identification of a positive case, in the Apuan area a second class of primary school was placed in quarantine in the comprehensive school Fossola Gentili. At the moment the close contacts identified are the child’s 13 classmates, 3 between the teaching staff and 7 outside the school. In the Lunigiana area, in the municipality of Licciana Nardi, a 2013 primary school child was identified as a “positive with low viral load”. Following the epidemiological investigation into contact isolation, 16 of the child’s classmates, three teachers, a school bus driver, a school bus escort and 18 other children were quarantined.
Lucca
Four students tested positive for Covid: three in Serchio Valley and one that resides in Plain of Lucca and attends an institute of Uzzanese Church. These are the schools concerned, for which the Hygiene and Public Health structure – in collaboration with the school management – will communicate the quarantine measures in the coming hours: – kindergarten in Castelnuovo Garfagnana (positive a girl in 2017); – Comprehensive Institute of Castelnuovo Garfagnana (positive a child of 2008); – Comprehensive Institute of Castiglione Garfagnana (positive a girl of 2011, who attends a fourth grade); – Chiesina Uzzanese middle school (positive a girl from 2007, resident in the Lucca plain, who attends the eighth grade).
Livorno
A teacher tested positive for Covid at the Iti Galilei in Livorno. 100 quarantines (4 classes) were arranged by the Hygiene and Public Health structure. At the Liceo Cecioni Livorno a 14-year-old student tested positive. A total of about 20 people are quarantined. In the Valli Etrusche area, a fifth grade child from the “Amici” elementary school in Campiglia Marittima is positive. This is a case contact with mild symptoms and has not been in school since last Tuesday. Given the days elapsed between the onset of symptoms and the last day of attendance, no quarantines have been issued, but active surveillance on the class will still be activated. Indications were given for the execution of tests to pupils and teachers of the class and for the extraordinary sanitation of the school environments used by the child.
Empoli
A section of a kindergarten of the ‘Est’ comprehensive school in Empoli, made up of 26 children aged four, was placed in quarantine after one of their teacher tested positive to the Covid buffer. To confirm the fact today, in a note, is the head teacher Grazia Mazzoni. «The teacher – explains the principal – has been at home since Saturday 25 September in quarantine and the children will be at home from Monday 5 October. Distance learning has already been organized, with videos recorded by the new teacher who will take up service immediately. The families concerned have all been warned ».
