Florence, August 26, 2021 – Covid Tuscany, I’m 677 new infections confirmed Coronavirus in the region on 13,644 tests. The president of the Region communicates this on social media, Eugenio Giani, anticipating the data of the daily bulletin on the pandemic emergency. On the last day, 8,945 molecular swabs and 4,699 rapid tests were performed. The rate of new positives is 4.96% of the total swabs and 10.5% in relation to the first diagnoses. It is, on the whole, a figure in sharp decline compared to a week ago: on Thursday 19, in fact, 844 infections were recorded in Tuscany with a positivity rate of 5.93 and 12.5% respectively. In the meantime, the vaccination campaign against Covid reaches 80% of over 12s covered with the first dose. Up to now 4,750,669 doses of preparations against the virus have been administered. Overall, 249,906 people healed in Tuscany (755 more than yesterday, plus 0.3%).

The average age of new infections
The average age of 677 new positives today is 36 years old approximately (25% are under 20, 30% between 20 and 39, 31% between 40 and 59, 10% between 60 and 79, 4% are 80 or older).
Hospitalization and intensive care
The people hospitalized in dedicated beds today are a total of 440 (+21 compared to yesterday, up 5%), 43 in intensive care (+3 compared to yesterday, more than 7.5%).
7 victims
Unfortunately, they register today 7 new deaths: 4 men and 3 women with an average age of 66.4 years. Since the beginning of the pandemic, the total number of deaths therefore rises to 6,995, divided as follows: 2,260 in Florence, 612 in Prato, 640 in Pistoia, 529 in Massa Carrara, 676 in Lucca, 707 in Pisa, 419 in Livorno, 526 in Arezzo , 342 in Siena, 193 in Grosseto. 91 people died on Tuscan soil but who were residents outside the region.

There are 74,348 total cases to date in Florence (163 more than yesterday), 24,546 in Prato (63 more), 25,131 in Pistoia (121 more), 14,276 in Massa Carrara (49 more), 27,767 in Lucca ( 70 more), 31,912 in Pisa (68 more), 19,912 in Livorno (60 more), 24,718 in Arezzo (51 more), 15,140 in Siena (24 more), 10,348 in Grosseto (8 more). 555 positive cases were reported in Tuscany, but residing in other regions.
