Covid, travels to Maldives, Mauritius and other exotic destinations resume with “tourist corridors” – Corriere.it

from Carlotta De Leo

An ordinance of the Minister of Health establishes on an experimental basis and with precise safety protocols the connections with non-EU destinations such as Aruba, Seychelles, Dominican Republic and Sharm El Sheikh and Marsa Alam in Egypt

It is back to being able to travel to the most exotic destinations. With an ordinance just signed, the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza has established on an experimental basis and with precise safety protocols the “Covid free tourist corridor” to destinations outside the EU. In particular, verso Aruba, Maldives, Mauritius, Seychelles, Dominican Republic, and the tourist areas of Sharm El Sheikh e Marsa Alam in Egypt. Tourism to these locations will however be strictly controlled: only travelers with “Covid 19 green certificates” (or equivalent) will be able to access.

And tampons

In addition to the green pass, travelers on the “Covid free corridors” will have to show another three or four (antigenic or molecular) negative swabs. Upon departure from Italy, tourists will then have to present at boarding a negative antigenic molecular swab performed in the previous 48 hours. Upon return, there is no quarantine or sanitary isolation, but a negative swab is also required to board the return flight. Another swab must then be carried out as soon as you arrive in Italy. Finally, if the holiday lasts more than seven days, there is an additional buffer to be done during the stay. The ordinance also calls into question tour operators who must comply with a list of “safety measures” when traveling by travelers.

Stay in the accommodation facilities is also checked

But how do these experimental tourist corridors work? First of all, the ordinance specifies that they concern “all itineraries departing and arriving on the national territory aimed at allowing the realization of controlled tourist trips, including staying in selected accommodation facilities”. The corridors are determined on the basis of “specific health security measures” in order to “ensure that the services used are rendered in compliance with the anti-contagion rules”.
