The teacher ‘Guafa’, as he was known in the artistic world, was born in Coyaima (Tolima), about 70 years ago and for several years he lived in Bogotá with his wife and close to their children.

In addition to his skill with the tiple, he also played the bandola. But his dexterity went further, his suddenness and memory were prodigious. Precisely his ability with the tiple and his ease to create and improvise, to create verses and riffs, not only opened the doors to him in the group of the Carranguero Mayor in 1994, but he remained there until 2003, being part of the iconic Velosa group. and Los Carrangueros.

He became a benchmark for Colombian artists and created different groups that he was leaving in the freezer to come up with a new idea, to always surprise: he tried Los de la Capital, he went to Frailejón and directed the Chanchirientos, to later arrive to different stages with Pataló and recently to Los del Pueblo, a group with which they did carranga and didactic concerts.
