Schools reopen with an incidence of 2,300 cases of covid-19 in the school population
The Government is committed to maximum educational presence after the Christmas holidays, when cases of coronavirus have exploded, as it considers that educational centers are “safe spaces”. The data, however, show runaway incidents of covid-19 in regions such as Navarra, the Basque Country and Castilla y León, while the first dose of the vaccine has only reached one in three children aged 5 to 11 years.
Several communities start classes this Monday with a cumulative incidence exceeding 3,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants at 14 days in the population under 19 years of age, according to the latest official data from the Ministry of Health.
While the average for Spain as a whole is 2,317 and 2,909 for the age groups under 11 and between 12 and 19, respectively, some regions widely exceed this incidence.
In fact, Navarra shows an incidence of 6,173 for those under 12 and 8,161 for those between 12 and 19 years old. For its part, Basque Country it has 5,580 and 7,468, respectively; Y Castile and Leon, 3,838 and 4,533.
They also get poor marks in cumulative incidence of cases of covid in the school population The Rioja, with 3,168 and 3,282; Estremadura, with 3,037 and 4,320; Cantabria3,351 and 3,016; Asturias, with 2,695 and 3,335; Y Catalonia, with 2,485 and 3,334, are close behind. Galicia, with 2,754 and 4,094; Y Castilla la Mancha, with 2,477 and 3,265, they also exceed the national averages for these two age groups.
Andalusia Y Madrid, two of the regions with the most population, reflect averages lower than that of the country as a whole: children under 11 have an incidence in Andalusia 1,350, and those between 12 and 19, 1,456; and in Madrid is 1,996 and 2,186.
