The network is born in Sardinia LaSanitàsiCura, “Formed by a coordination of territorial committees, associations and movements of patients, citizens and citizens, to protect public health as an essential and local public service par excellence”. Thus in the public baptism of the network that has taken shape to become “support for public health”, so that “it ensures the right of access to laboratory, instrumental and specialist diagnostic investigations and the essential levels of assistance for universal access to care” .
From the network they start from a certainty: “The emergency determined by the spread of Covid-19 pandemic has dramatically laid bare the weaknesses of our national health service, with alarming results in Sardinia. We are witnessing an increasingly generalized and pervasive spread of the infection, which does not spare any community and which jeopardizes the stability of our regional health service. The feeling is that, on the one hand, very little has been done to prepare to stem the foreseeable recovery of the pandemic in the autumn, on the other hand that the response to Covid-19 is penalizing the health needs of all citizens ”.
The photograph that is taken of medical and hospital care is merciless: “Appointments postponed, closed agendas, waiting lists that exceed one year force Sardinian citizens to turn to private individuals, for a fee, to obtain the care they need and to which they are entitled. An intolerable gap separates those who can and those who cannot afford treatment. Prevention interventions, such as anticancer screenings, are no longer carried out or are carried out with a delay that could make them ineffective “. Then there are thousands of people with chronic diseases (such as cancer patients, pneumology, diabetics, Alzheimer’s patients, thalassemics, psychiatric patients, organ transplants) who “cannot get a check-up from the few specialists left in their respective services. In the meantime, the uncontrolled spread of the Covid-19 epidemic makes the lack of territorial assistance and the insufficient supply of beds, especially those of intensive care, more evident every day in Sardinian hospitals. Health workers and operators are in great trouble ”.
From ‘LaSanitàsiCura’ launches “a cry of pain that now rises in every community of Sardinia”. for this reason the need to “give visibility and strength to the committees, movements, associations that all over the island are concerned with the right to care and the need for health of people, in order to achieve some shared goals”. A first level of action “wants to be the institutional one, with the agenda that, through the Anci Regionale, will be transmitted to all 377 Municipalities of Sardinia for discussion, adoption and transmission to the President of the Region”.
