Sydney.- An innovative way to detect COVID-19 in children has been created in Australia; using a test that looks like a lollipop, this prevents the little ones from being exposed to nasal tests.
According to what has been said by the health authorities, this test has already been implemented in kindergartens as an alternative for those who fear having a nasal or throat test and, when they come into contact with them, have complicated experiences.
The first to test these measures were a group of children enrolled in a Vienna kindergarten, given that with the reopening of schools it is feared that the SARS-CoV-2 virus will begin to spread among infants.
On the other hand, the Austrian province of Burgenland reserved 35 thousand of these tests as reported by the AFP agency, adding that parents in this region received a letter to inform them that each infant will receive one test free of charge per week.
The devices were invented by Manuela Foedinger who currently runs the Kaiser-Franz-Joseph hospital laboratory.
So far, these measurements are being carried out in five kindergartens with children between one and six years of age to determine the reliability of the tests.
