The FIALS of Imola denounces the state of chaos in which theSanta Maria della Scaletta Hospital in Imola, in the throes of unprecedented Coronavirus infections. They protest Doctors, Nurses, Oss, Health Professions and all the operators of the Imola AUSL, which are now calling for urgent action. Object: Covid outbreaks among health workers, collapsing departments, request for urgent interventions.

Dear in address, the writer, in the name and on behalf of its members and all employees, requests immediate verification and urgent intervention to monitor and extinguish the outbreaks that are occurring in various OUs such as the third and fourth floors. To date, the situation in the MEDA and GERIATRIA ward is of particular concern, where numerous operators including Doctors, Nurses and OSS fall from day to day under the blows of COVID-19.
As repeatedly claimed by this trade union acronym it is necessary that visits to the departments remain closed to the public given the delicate situation that is occurring; that a close health surveillance is immediately activated on the staff and above all on the users in order to prevent a closure of the department; that the environments of the entire plate in question are sanitized; that the staff in charge of cleaning are strengthened with particular attention to the contact points (handles, lift call, keyboards, etc.); subdivision of staff and patients.

We remind you how the user arrives in the wards without a molecular exam to search for positivity to Covid-19, therefore without any filter from the Emergency Department. Many inpatients carry out this surveillance only after having taken their place in the ward, in crowded rooms not suitable for preventive isolation, waiting for a medical report to check the swab that arrives after 24/48 hours and, unfortunately, we are increasingly witnessing cases of positivity of users hospitalized in rooms with other negative patients who could potentially become infected. It goes without saying that a massive procurement with free access to the PPE to be used is needed.

We are in a huge “Infectious disease” where no one is immune to the virus, while the Company does not pay any indemnity to the operators who face this war, even discriminating against the operators involved with established cases and suspected cases, creating discontent.

We are facing a real organizational collapse due to the disconcerting impoverishment of medical and health personnel, which is making it impossible to ensure the activities of the medical area but also of the emergency room given the continuous and new provisions regarding the implementation of activities with the ” addition of a Covid-dedicated ambulance, all without providing the right staff but continuing to relentlessly squeeze the few already exhausted present, who complain of having to adequately “dress” and “decontaminate” in totally inadequate, delimited dirt / clean paths simply from a chair and tape, in the middle of the passage of Covid-Free ambulances. To support this implementation of activities, the use of long shifts is planned and rests risk becoming a mirage. We have known well and for some time the nature of sacrifice and organizational flexibility as well as the loyalty towards citizenship of the 118 staff, therefore we ask that this extraordinary activity be recognized and paid in “alp-like” time as is the case for extraordinary activity put in support of the “pre-triage tent”, this to give due recognition to the infinite efforts that are sustained and that guarantee the interventions.

The contagion of the staff further reduces the staff already lacking, exasperated and exhausted. And in all this, the relationship with the Ausl itself does not seem to be the best given the block of holidays, permits as well as compensatory changes and mobility. It is extremely offensive that in this particular moment in the face of an outbreak, the Management dreams of saying “it is highly unlikely that with the use of PPE and the observance of correct behavior, health workers can contract Sars-CoV infection- 2 », without taking into account everything else.

The evident organizational inertia of recent months confirms how this company management has stubbornly refused to deal with a reorganization of resources, means and procedures in an organic, collegial and rational manner, assuming that the forces available were always adequate numerically and in excellent psychophysical condition to face any situation and implementing authoritarian measures that have further nullified the workers’ confidence in the ability to manage the current emergency situation.
