Covid outbreak at Salzburg police: six sick, 20 quarantine

Six police officers from the Itzling and Bahnhof railway inspections are currently infected. The two departments are blocked.

After the Covid outbreak during two inspections by the Salzburg police, the results were delivered after a technical breakdown in a laboratory on Thursday. After five illnesses of police officers were already known, a sixth officer was added, who was also found to have Covid-19. Five sick officers work at PI Bahnhof, one in Itzling.

City police command is still waiting for further notices

Now the city police command is waiting for further notices from the health authority. It is not yet clear how many colleagues need to be quarantined. On Thursday afternoon, City Police Commandant Manfred Lindenthaler assumed that 20 other officers would initially not be available for the service. “But there could still be some on Friday because the health authority has not yet issued all the notices.”

As a precautionary measure, 100 police officers were tested to determine the extent of the Covid outbreak. The two departments will remain closed for the time being. He had already worked out a plan B with the state police directorate, with which it had been determined how operations in the city could be maintained in the event of an even greater number of failures. However, Lindenthaler does not expect the bottleneck to extend far beyond the coming week.

Four new cases in the asylum district in Bergheim

There is less good news from the asylum district in Bergheim. Here, the authorities identified four new corona infections. As early as June 30, one person had Covid there. However, the diseases are unrelated. The four new infections are people who were tested shortly after their arrival in Austria.
