SydPath confirmed yesterday that more than 400 people were falsely informed that they tested negative for COVID when in fact they tested positive.
As soon as SydPath became aware of the problem, it immediately initiated a process to contact those affected.
This morning SydPath can confirm that everyone within this group has been contacted and informed of their positive results.
The emergency team investigating the cause of this failure has now identified nearly 995 other people who died on Jan.
All of these people have been contacted and informed of the error. They have been notified that they will have their exact test results by tonight (Monday).
Once again, we sincerely regret this mistake and acknowledge the significant impact it had on those involved.
We established what happened and can confirm that it was related to a specific human error.
SydPath has procedures in place to ensure this does not happen again.
