Covid: mandatory masks until June 15 in transport, cinemas and hospitals. Trade union-business protocols at work

The Ffp2 mask will remain mandatory until June 15 on board all means of local and long-distance public transport (trains, airplanes, subways, trams, buses, etc.) and must be worn for indoor shows and sporting events. Therefore, the Ffp2 remains also in cinemas, theaters, concert halls and sports halls. This is foreseen by an amendment to the Reopening decree approved in commission in the Chamber inserted in a “bridge” ordinance by the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza which, starting from 1 May, will remain in force until the conversion of the decree. The text does not refer to work, both public and private, where the protocols between companies and trade unions will apply. But it is specified that “it is still recommended to wear respiratory protection devices in all public indoor places or places open to the public”.

Obligatory mask also in hospitals and at school

The obligation to wear a mask indoors has also been extended until June 15 for visitors to health and social health facilities, from hospitals to health residences, from hospices to rehabilitation facilities. No measures are foreseen for shops, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, stadiums and outdoor shows. It means that here the mask can be removed, although the recommendation to use it remains. In the classroom, however, the mask remains mandatory until the end of the school year, as required by the law already in force. Students aged 6 and over must continue to wear it until the end of the school year, despite the pressure to remove them has continued in the last few days.

At work I protocol trade unions on masks

In private workplaces, the protocols between companies and trade unions apply. The current anti-Covid one signed in April 2020 and renewed a year ago, provides for the obligation of a mask. Companies and trade unions will meet on May 4 to see whether to extend or change the current rules, which remain in force until that date. The obligation could remain or it could be limited to a recommendation. With the “freedom” then left to individual companies to pass from recommendation to obligation. For public offices and for the entire public administration, a circular from Minister Renato Brunetta is already ready in which the basic prevention and health protection criteria to be followed will be indicated and who will recommend the use of the mask.

Ordinance, from 1 May stop on the form requested from travelers

It should also be noted that the Minister of Health Roberto Speranza signed the ordinance on foreign travel in which the novelty concerns the Passenger locator form (Plf) which from May 1st will no longer be necessary. This is the form used by the Health Authorities for travel outside the national territory.

Towards the return to normality

With the de facto archiving of the green pass and the limitation of the obligation to wear a mask indoors, the rules for managing the pandemic are therefore loosened from May 1st. Most of the rules set out in the latest anti-Covid decree of March 24th expire on April 30th. Those relating to the green pass obligation (in its “basic” and “reinforced” versions) will not be extended by the government. The green certificate will no longer be required for any activity, except for hospital visits.
