The downward trends of the main indicators of the Covid-19 epidemic in Belgium continue.
The average daily number of hospital admissions between February 12 and 18 due to Covid-19 (228.1), patients currently hospitalized with the coronavirus (3,135, including 338 in intensive care) but also the number daily average of new cases established between February 9 and 15 (11,813, -43%) are all indicators which thus continue their downward trend. Only the average daily number of deaths (47.7) established between February 9 and 15 remains on the rise (+6%).
The incidence, which provides the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 1,981 over 14 days.
The reproduction rate of the virus is established meanwhile 0.83. When it is less than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic tends to slow down.
The Omicron variant represents nearly 80% of cases in Belgium.
