Switzerland detects a possible omicron case and imposes quarantines on 19 countries

The Swiss health authorities reported a possible case of the omicron variant, the first detected in the country, and have raised to 19 the nations and territories whose travelers will have to quarantine when entering the Swiss country, national television RTS highlighted today.

The suspected case is a person who returned from South Africa a week ago, the Federal Office of Public Health said in a short message on its official Twitter account.

The list of countries from which it requires quarantine, which Switzerland began to apply this weekend, includes countries from southern Africa (South Africa, Botswana, Mozambique, Namibia, Zimbabwe) but also European nations such as Belgium, the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Denmark , and also Australia, Egypt or Israel, among others.
