COVID in Spain, live today: vaccines, Omicron, end of masks, quarantine…

An expert believes that Covid-19 should be normalized with less than 200 cases

The Professor of Preventive Medicine and Public Health at the Rey Juan Carlos University of Madrid, Ángel Gil de Miguel, has qualified as “good” strategy to normalize covidbut has stated that it should be launched when the incidence is less than 200 cases for every hundred thousand inhabitants.

This has been assured to EFE by Gil de Miguel one day after the Public Health Commission has given the green light to the new strategy that, from the next day 28, eliminate isolates from mild and asymptomatic casesthe quarantines of their contacts and the carrying out of tests in general.

The Ministry of Health and the autonomous communities have also established that, as of that date, diagnostic tests will only be carried out on people (over 60, immunosuppressed and pregnant) and vulnerable areas (health and social health), as well as the severe caseson which surveillance will focus from now on.

“The measurements seem fine to me” and are “a good strategy” but “they arrive a bit early, we would have to wait a bit“, has affirmed Gil de Miguel, who understands “that there are other collateral issues related to these measures”.
