Covid in France: 16,000 cases in one day, never so many

In the midst of the controversy over the new squeeze on health rules, the new record numbers of infections fall on France: 16,096, according to what the government communicated, in the last 24 hours alone, a ceiling never reached. After the first wave of coronavirus, resuscitations exceed 1,000 for the first time, now hosting 1,048 patients (46 more than yesterday). the number of victims has increased by 52 since yesterday, to a total of 31,511 now. The authorities are monitoring 1,091 outbreaks.

The Paris government hopes the new measures introduced to stem the contagion and avert a new total lockdown will prove effective. In particular, areas defined as scarlet have been created where restrictions are very severe. In 50% of the departments, the prefects have already been authorized to adopt closures and limits on the movement of people. In Marseille, again, reductions have been imposed on the opening of public places. The situation remains alarming also in Spain where there are now 704,209 confirmed coronavirus infections. This was announced by the Ministry of Health of Madrid. Spain thus becomes the first country in Europe to exceed 700 thousand infections, according to data collected by Johns Hopkins University. France follows with around 520,000 cases and Great Britain with around 410,000.
