Covid emergency: “Confusion reigns in Oristano hospitals”
Harsh stance of family doctors who are ready to start the state of agitation
The family doctors of the province of Oristano are ready to start the state of agitation, who with the secretary of the Fimmg Alessandro Usai announce this sensational protest if what is defined as “the disastrous situation” of health care in the area still persists, which risks leading to a “complete capitulation of the Regional Health Service”. In a document sent to the top of health care, the Fimmg denounces “the confusion that reigns in the organization of the management of the Covid emergency in hospital wards with orders and co-ordinates by a hospital management not able to deal with the management of the evolution of the epidemic in hospitals” . In this regard, the closure of essential hospital departments such as Emergency Department, Medicine, Orthopedics is recalled and refers to the structural deficiencies of Pediatrics, Gynecology and Anesthesia, which make “hospital assistance (indispensable reference in assistance to the population) practically unreachable to citizens of our province “.

The Fimmg document therefore refers to the still “reduced activity of specialist outpatient structures, limited to urgent and short-term services, which forces citizens to turn to private professionals (who fortunately continue to do their usual work)” .
Serious difficulties, according to the Fimmg, are then recorded by General Medicine and the so-called USCA “to follow symptomatic patients at home due to the impossibility of home oxygen therapy, despite the requests of the Health Department to ARES on the supply of therapeutic oxygen”.
The union of family doctors also recalls “the state of extreme hardship of numerous centers in the province whose mayors, left alone, have to manage an unexpected flowering of the epidemic, due to the impossibility of the public health service (in serious shortage of staff ) to trace the infections within the communities “.
Finally, the secretary of the Fimmg Alessandro Usai expresses solidarity with the colleagues of the Assl hospitals and welcomes the proposal of the Oristano Health Defense Committee which proposes the involvement of the Nursing Home in the reception of non-COVID patients from from the San Martino Department of Medicine.
