Active cases of COVID-19 continue to rise in Galicia, with a total of 14,909 (+1,230), which represents the largest increase in active infections in one day since April 2, according to data updated this Friday by the Ministry of Sanidade, which collects 1,717 positives and 585 discharges in the last 24 hours, in addition to two deaths that bring the number of deaths with coronavirus in the Galician community to 3,316 so far in the pandemic.
Sanidade also reports today a slight increase in the number of hospitalized COVID patients, as they rise to 639 (+3), with 16 patients in the ICU (+1) and the rest (623) on the ward. There are 14,270 patients under follow-up at their homes.
The positivity rate –number of positive PCRs per 100 performed– rises to 37%. The surveillance protocol for the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic currently in force does not count self-diagnostic tests and reduces PCR only to the population of groups vulnerable to COVID.
HOSPITALS
By health area, in A Coruña and Cee -the one with the most hospitalized patients with COVID, with a total of 142 admitted patients- the number of patients in the ICU fell to four (-2) and those hospitalized in other units fell to 138 (-3). ; while in Pontevedra and O Salnés there are three in critics and 88 in plant.
In Santiago and Barbanza, two hospitalized patients with COVID remain in the ICU and those admitted to other units rise slightly, to 91, while Ferrol continues without patients in critical care, although those in other units increase to 74 .
In the case of Ourense, it has three patients admitted to the ICU and another 94 in other plants, maintaining the decline of the last few days. For its part, the Vigo health area continues with three patients with COVID in the ICU and those admitted to other units have decreased, reaching 85. In Lugo, those admitted to conventional units remain at 53 and there is one in critical care.
CONTAGION AND ACTIVE CASES
Active cases continue to rise in all health areas. Of the 14,909 currently infected, 2,884 correspond to A Coruña (175 more than yesterday); 2,533 in Vigo (+142); 2,364 in Santiago (+169); 2,268 to that of Lugo (+217); 1,974 in Ourense (+204); 1,678 in Pontevedra (+146); and 1,193 in Ferrol (+76).
Lugo is the area that today reports the most positives in the last 24 hours with a total of 296, followed by Vigo with 273, A Coruña and Ourense with 269 each, Santiago with 264, Pontevedra with 206 and Ferrol with 139.
Until now, since the start of the pandemic, a total of 574,095 people have been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Galicia, of which 119,308 correspond to the area of A Coruña and Cee; 34,396 to that of Ferrol; 61,984 to that of Lugo; 69,109 to Ourense; 65,852 to Pontevedra; 90,687 to Santiago and 131,917 to Vigo. The total number of cured in the community stands at 555,928.
On the other hand, the number of PCR tests carried out since the start of the pandemic stands at 3,833,061 and antigen tests at 1,671,525. The number of vaccine doses administered is 6,636,921.
The victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in Galicia increase to 3,316, according to information provided by Sergas. The last registered deaths from coronavirus were on April 20, a 91-year-old man, in the Ourense health area and another of the same age, in Vigo. The deceased had previous pathologies.
