Covid: clinics and private hospitals mobilized

Ile-de-France under tension. 98% of resuscitation beds are occupied by Covid patients. Among them, a quarter are treated in private hospitals. They too are on the front line and give priority to treating Covid patients. Example in an intensive care unit in Paris.

Every day in this private Parisian hospital, the same comes and goes in the rooms of the patients of the Covid. In barely ten days, the intensive care unit has almost doubled its reception capacities. Now, there are 18 beds instead of 10. “Of the 18 intensive care beds, 14 are occupied by patients infected with Covid. We are in a worrying situation because there are 14 patients that we have in addition to our usual activity, and this was possible thanks to the deprogramming of surgical interventions ”, explains Doctor Pierre Trouiller, head of the intensive care unit of the hospital. Rotschild foundation.

A new vaccination center opened its doors on Monday in an emblematic place of Marseille: the Vélodrome stadium.

In total here, 40% of non-urgent operations were postponed. With this strategy, private hospitals want to show that they too are participating in the collective effort and treating Covid patients as a priority. For example, a few days ago, this service received a patient from Mayotte in intensive care. But now that will no longer be possible.

“We currently have a free bed, we don’t know how long we will keep it. We know very well that we are in a situation of tension ”, expresses Doctor Charles Grégoire, doctor in intensive care.

A palpable tension throughout Île-de-France where 98% of intensive care beds are occupied.
