COVID cases rise: masks mandatory in health facilities

Wearing a mask will once again become mandatory for everyone in several CISSS de la Montérégie-Centre facilities starting September 11, due to the increase in the number of COVID-19 cases.

This measure applies to Charles-Le Moyne and Haut-Richelieu hospitals, screening and vaccination clinics, hemodialysis centers, the Saint-Lambert Center and the Sainte-Croix intensive functional rehabilitation unit.

“Wearing a mask will be in effect throughout the period conducive to the spread of respiratory viruses. This decision was made in order to protect accessibility to services,” indicates the CISSS.

Wearing a mask remains not mandatory, but recommended for users in CLSCs, family doctor groups, medical clinics and the Birth Center in particular.

The CISSS reminds us that wearing a mask is a useful measure to limit the spread of infections, as is washing your hands frequently with soap and water or antiseptic gel. “It is advisable to stay home if you have a fever and to wear a mask if you have symptoms such as cough, nasal congestion and sore throat,” it also notes.
