Covid Cases Increase; several players among them

The city has indicated that there is an increase in cases of the coronavirus since the last month.

By June there had been about two hundred cases a day. Now, the latest data indicates that around 400 people who have been tested have tested positive.

Among these positive cases are six Yankees players, some of whom were already vaccinated.

Due to these infections, Thursday’s game against the Red Sox was canceled, a measure that did not leave some fans happy.

“The game has to go on. We are all supposed to get sick, just because one person gets sick does not mean that everyone is going to get sick, ”said one fan.

Other fans, such as Sebastián and Óscar, who were vaccinated here at Yankee Stadium and received tickets to watch the game, said that although the game is more enjoyed in person, they would not dare to visit crowded places without putting on the mask.

“It was good to cancel it because they don’t know if the others have COVID. They did well there too, ”said Sebastián.

“We must not lower our guard yet, it is not always known, we must take care of our health. It’s the most important thing, ”added Óscar.

In the case of the Yankees the team announced that at least three of them are vaccinated of these two with the Johnson and Johnson brand.

The other three tested positive after taking the rapid COVID 19 test and are confirming the results.

But this is not the first time that infections have been reported, this season another eight employees tested positive.

“Well, what I think they canceled the game for certain reasons. That even if you are vaccinated you can still take it and for me the best thing they did was that, that they closed the game or if not everyone would be sick now, “said another fan.

These cases come at a time when the city has a contagion rate of around 1.43 percent. While the authorities urge more people to get vaccinated.
