This Wednesday the vaccination began in the three territories of the Basque Country to those over 100 with the method Vaccinated, which has already been used in other Autonomous Communities such as Andalusia. It consists in that the health workers vaccinate this group without having to get out of their car so that the doses are inoculated, and hence their name: Vaccinated.
Between 2:15 p.m. and 2:45 p.m., six centenarians were vaccinated in the Santiago de Vitoria Hospital and it is expected that at the end of the day, 18 will have been vaccinated with this method that has been implemented Osakidetza. They are asked if they suffer from any symptoms and if the answer is negative, they proceed to the vaccination. Subsequently, they have to wait fifteen minutes in case those vaccinated suffer any adverse reaction.
The second dose It will be inoculated within three weeks, that is, March 17 is the scheduled date for the 18 centenarians who have been vaccinated today, to complete the vaccination with the second dose.
On Álava There are a total of 70 people who have already been summoned to proceed with the inoculation of the first dose of the vaccine. Those 17 centenarians who resided in nursing homes have already been vaccinated.
What is ‘Vacunauto’?
The method Vaccinated consists of people being vaccinated without having to get out of the car. Now that they are vaccinating those over one hundred years old, those vaccinated are usually the co-pilots; and a relative or close friend, the driver of the vehicle that takes them to the vaccination point.
Before proceeding with the vaccination, they ask the person to be vaccinated if he has suffered, during the last days, any symptom related to the coronavirus such as headaches, fever or diarrhea; and in the event that the answer is negative, the dose is inoculated.
Subsequently, they have to wait around fifteen minutes in case the vaccinated person suffers negative symptoms.
