While the covid-19 pandemic is experiencing a certain stability in Algeria, the number of contaminations is revised upwards in other countries such as Germany and Russia where a non-working week has been announced by Vladimir Poutin in order to counter the progression of the pandemic.
A finding which proves that the resurgence of the health crisis can occur at any time. The world is apparently a long way from being able to get rid of covid-19 so quickly. This was indeed confirmed by the Director General of WHO Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The latter revealed during a meeting that he brought him together with certain ministers of the member countries of the G20, that the appearance of a new virus cannot be excluded. Biologically, he continues, it has been confirmed that a new variant will emerge in the near future, and that humanity will find it difficult to control.
Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus confided that “when we planned this meeting for October 29, 2021 in Rome, we all hoped that the pandemic would have disappeared, but this is not the case today”
36% are vaccinated worldwide and 6% in Africa
Although vaccination saves lives, it unfortunately does not stop the circulation of the virus. This is why countries must put in place all the necessary measures, particularly social and health measures, to stem the spread of the pandemic. WHO, for its part, has developed a new strategy with its partners, the budget of which is estimated at 23.4 billion dollars.
Regarding the anti-covid vaccination rate, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus indicated that 36% of the world population are fully vaccinated. While this rate is estimated at only 6% in the African continent. The target is also to vaccinate 40% of the world’s population by the end of 2021. According to the WHO DG, this requires around 550 million additional doses of vaccine, which can be produced by 10 days.
